Do you know anything of the Bateman family? My ggggfather Hiram married Elizabeth, and I can’t find anything much about her.

Can’t help with Elizabeth Ann Bateman at the moment but I believe Hiram ended up in Australia.

Hiram did indeed end up in Australia, with my 4x grandmother, and the family has been here since 1856. Fortunately he kept a diary, a transcription of which can be read at http://www.Scribd.com, as is The Egyptian Diary of Elijah Brentnall, if there are any other Brentnalls interested.
